First Day, and Elections

Yesterday was the first day of class. It was a little boring, I can't wait to get out in the schools. but the excitement of the day was the first FEA meeting of the year. We discussed fundraising ideas and voted on dues. We also held the elections for new officers and I was voted PRESIDENT!!! So add that to my plate, I'm off to consider Ideas for upcoming meetings. Weight Watchers in the morning hopefully I'll post some more good news!

Myrtle Beach and getting ready for school

I had such a good time at the beach! I lost another 1.4 pounds last week and I think it's starting to show :) I got a little bit of shopping done and spent a lot of time walking the strip and sitting on the balcony watching the dolphin! I can't wait to go back.

I've been getting ready for classes to start back and I'm in the process of decorating binders. Here's what I have so far.
I am planning to ad pictures to each binder as well as make a third with Paw Print paper. I created the notebooks by adding wrapping paper to Econoview notebooks.

My first class is meeting at noon today(only three more semesters to go) so I'm sure there will be another post soon.

Toy Review

So I'm walking through Wal-Mart and I glance over at the toy section and something catches my eye. Now reduced to $30 is this...

a miniature swimming pool made for finger size skateboards! In case your fingers aren't satisfied with this, there is an entire line of skateboard items including stairs and customizable skateboards. I guess I can rest assured that American children may face increasing chances of heart disease and obesity but their fingers will be physically fit.

My recommendation as a future teacher: Spend the money to buy your child an actual skateboard (and of course a helmet and elbow and knee pads) and encourage them to go outside and play or, if you are going to buy them the finger skateboard, encourage them to use their imagination when playing.

Girl Scout Leader Training

So...I just got back from the Girl Scout Leader Training and I am really tired. It was basically a summary of everything I already knew about Girl Scouts. But I'm still excited about being an assistant leader.

First Post

I'm excited about starting a blog. Especially at such an exciting time. Next Thursday I will officially be a Junior in the Early Childhood Program at USC! A few days of orientations and then I will be in the schools working with the children. This is what I've been working toward. I have finally finished all of my basic ed courses and will finish out the next year and a half with only education coursework! This being said I am starting to get a little nervous. I am over halfway through now. After this semester, I will be doing my internships and then I will be finished.

Tonight I am going to a training session to become a Girl Scout assistant leader. I am going to be assisting someone who I was in Girl Scouts with so I am excited to be back. I can't wait until i get to talk with her at the meeting tonight and find out what is in store for the upcoming year. For those of you who don't know, Daisy Girl Scouts are Kindergartners and First Graders. This is the age group I will be assisting with.

I'm also busy getting ready for a beach trip this weekend! I will be traveling to myrtle beach with my mom and my grandparents this weekend and I am looking forward to doing a little back to school shopping while I am there.
